SOURCE MATERIALS & DISCLAIMERS

DISCLAIMER: Please remember that I'm NOT an expert birder, just a casual outdoors guy trying to help people learn the common Humboldt bird songs and calls.   I'm also not a designer of webpages and am learning as I go.  And.....I've been working as fast as I can to get this site as far along as possible before the end of July (when many of the birds stop singing their breeding songs), and so I apologize for any errors in grammar  and sentence structure.  Help with any of my song/call descriptions or bird habitats is also greatly appreciated.

I'm also not sensitive about advice, so please, feel free to contact me with any suggestions on any of the above.

SOURCE MATERIALS AND KUDOS:

A big thanks to Mark Bailey for having the interest and patience in helping me learn to identify birds by ear!

And wow, the birders here in Humboldt County are amazing!  I have extensively referred to and used information from these 2 incredible books:

COMMON BIRDS of NORTHWEST CALIFORNIA

by Kenneth M. Burton & Leslie Scopes Anderson

published by the Redwood Region Audubon Society

ATLAS of the BREEDING BIRDS of HUMBOLDT COUNTY, CALIFORNIA

by John E. Hunter, David Fix, Gregory A. Schmidt, and Jude Claire Power

also published by the Redwood Region Audubon Society

Both of those books are absolutely wonderful pieces of work, start to finish.  The more that I've used them, the more impressed I've become.  Congratulations to the authors and contributors!
